 PHONE HOME DEVICE EXPECTED TO DIAL PARENT'S WORRIES AWAY;
 AUTOMATIC DIALER FOR KIDS LAUNCHED AT CES BOOTH 4123
 CLARKSBURG, N.J., Jan. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Busy parents have their cellular phones, and now kids have Phone Home -- a new palm-size automatic dialing device that allows a child to phone home or a parent's office from any telephone without using money -- even if they don't know the number or how to use a phone.
 The brainchild of Clarksburg, N.J. inventor Steve Betheil, Phone Home (at Booth 4123 at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas) lets a child make a collect, operator-assisted call to the number programmed into the device. When news about a great report card, winning team, skinned knee, or other childhood triumph or trauma can't wait, Phone Home makes getting in touch quick and simple.
 Phone Home also might help to save a child's life. Endorsed by the Vanished Children's Alliance, Phone Home could answer every parent's nightmare -- that their child will become one of the more than 1 million the Justice Department says are lost or stolen each year.
 Many experts believe children should be given Phone Home because those who are lost often get into trouble when they ask the wrong person for assistance. "If the child could call home right away with Phone Home, they'd be much more likely to be found safe," says Robert Trotta, president of New York City-based T&M Security Service.
 Phone Home, available in discount and variety stores for $19.95, also might be helpful for developmentally disabled individuals and victims of Alzheimer's disease.
 Tips from Vanished Children's Alliance on how to prevent child abduction, or interviews, photos, additional information are also available.
