PHILADELPHIA BAR ASSOCIATION TO SPONSOR DAYLONG 'LEGALLINE' DURING LAW WEEK

PHILADELPHIA, May 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Hundreds of Philadelphia-area residents will have their legal questions answered at no cost when the Philadelphia Bar Association provides thousands of dollars worth of free legal advice on Wednesday, May 5, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., as part of a daylong edition of "LegalLine," the Bar Association's free legal advice service.
Philadelphia lawyers will staff more than 25 phones at Bar headquarters at 1101 Market St., 11th floor, and answer law-related questions from Delaware Valley residents.
The service is free and confidential. Callers who wish to have their legal questions answered can call 215-238-1701 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 5. Phones will be staffed by members of the Association's Young Lawyers Section.
"The daylong LegalLine is an extraordinary opportunity for the people of Philadelphia," Bar Association Chancellor Andre' L. Dennis said. "Citizens can have their legal questions answered instantly, confidentially and with no obligations," Dennis added. "They can ask about any topic, from family law to wills and estates to landlord-tenant disputes."
Also on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m., the Pennsylvania Conference of State Trial Judges, the League of Women Voters of Philadelphia and the Philadelphia Bar Association will sponsor "Meet the Judges," a free and open public forum at the Independence Park Visitors Center on 3rd and Chestnut streets. A panel of local judges will answer questions about the justice system and the courts during a session that will be moderated by Temple University President Peter Liacouras.
The special daylong edition of LegalLine and the "Meet the Judges" programs are part of a series of public outreach programs conducted by the 12,000-member Philadelphia Bar Association annually during Law Week. Law Week in Philadelphia is an expansion of the national Law Day, which was established in 1953 as an annual celebration of the role of law in our society.
