PHILADELPHIA, July 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Mayor Edward G. Rendell and

As 1992 Phil-a-Job co-chairmen, Rendell and Paquette will address 60 Phil-a-Job participants representing the three major components of Phil- a-Job: employment, education and community service programs. Youth enrolled in programs at the Philadelphia Electric Company, the West Philadelphia Improvement Corps, and the Philadelphia Ranger Corps will participate.

Through the National Urban Aid Bill passed in June, Philadelphia received an additional $6.1 million in federal funds to operate the Phil-a-Job program this summer. With these additional funds, a total of 12,000 youth will complete the 1992 program.
Established in 1985, Phil-a-Job is a public/private sector partnership which provides Philadelphia youth with summer employment and educational opportunities. Phil-a-Job is coordinated by the Private Industry Council (PIC) of Philadelphia, in cooperation with the Greater Philadelphia Urban Affairs Coalition and the Foundation Collaborative.
