 PHA AWARDS CONTRACT FOR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR SEARCH
 PHILADELPHIA, Sept. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Elton Jolly, special master


for the Philadelphia Housing Authority (PHA), and Michael Smerconish, regional administrator for the Office of Housing and Development (HUD), have announced that PHA has awarded a contract to Isaacson, Miller, Inc. to conduct the nationwide search for the position of executive director for The Philadelphia Housing Authority.
 Isaacson, Miller, Inc. of Boston is a diversified, national executive search firm with offices in Boston and Washington. Among their special areas of interest are public housing, community and economic development, and affordable housing. Their client list includes various state and municipal governments and a broad array of not-for-profit organizations, including The Washington Housing Authority, Community Builders of Boston, Chicago Transit Authority and Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA).
 The scope of services of the contract awarded by PHA to Isaacson, Miller, Inc. will include conducting the recruitment and examination process used in the selection of candidates for this key management position. Activities will include designing an array of recruitment techniques, implementing recommendations of the PHA Executive Director Search Committee and evaluating responses. The contract was awarded for a three-month period for the amount of $33,333.
 The firm will assist PHA's recently formed executive director Search Committee, an 18-member volunteer committee, composed of leaders from the private and corporate sector, community and non-profit organizations, educational and civic agencies and resident organizations, charged with the responsibility of leading a nationwide search to attract the most competent candidates available for this top leadership position. Search committee members include:

 -- Robert Bogle, president, The Philadelphia Tribune;
 -- Rev. Ralph Blanks, Zoar United Methodist Church, Black Clergy of Philadelphia;
 -- Dr. Constance Clayton, superintendent, Philadelphia Board of Education;
 -- Corliss Gray, president, Queen Lane Tenant Council;
 -- Murph Hertzfeld, Hertzfeld and Associates;
 -- Ernest Jones, attorney, chairman, Philadelphia Housing Authority; executive director, Greater Philadelphia Urban Affairs Coalition;
 -- Mary Mason, WHAT-AM, radio personality
 -- Edward Montgomery Jr., vice president, United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania;
 -- Jason Nathan, J. Nathan & Company (Former HUD regional director for Urban Renewal);
 -- Philip Price Jr., president, Allegheny West Corporation;
 -- Nellie Reynolds, president, PHA Resident Advisory Board;
 -- Gladys Reese, president, Philadelphia Chapter, NAACP;
 -- Dr. Ronald Temple, president, Community College of Philadelphia;
 -- James Walker Jr., executive counsel, ClGNA Corporation;
 -- Rebecca Washington, president, Southwark Tenant Council;
 -- Virginia Wilks, president, Richard Allen Homes Tenant Council;
 -- Kelly Wolfington, first vice president, Philadelphia Board of Realtors.
 The nationwide search for the executive director of The Philadelphia Housing Authority is a key accomplishment within PHA's Ten Point Action Plan, introduced by Jolly and Smerconish, which creates the agenda that will focus on the continued improvement of the management and operations of The Philadelphia Housing Authority.
