ANNOUNCES ELECTION OF CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD
HOUSTON, Nov. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- The Petrotechnical Open Software Corporation (POSC) today announced the election of Glenn R. Breed to the position of chairman of the board. Breed brings to POSC a sound understanding of the oil and gas exploration and production business, a vision of where it is going, and technical expertise in geophysics and computer technology. Breed is with BP Exploration Inc. in Houston and has served on the POSC board of directors since its incorporation in October 1990.
Additionally POSC announces the election of Lynda E. Grindrod to its board of directors as director-at-large. Grindrod is president and chief executive officer, Kestrel Data Management, Inc. in Houston. Her international experience and background in data management and data modeling will be particularly useful to POSC. Grindrod will represent the general membership of POSC in all matters brought before the board.
POSC, a not-for-profit, membership corporation is building a worldwide partnership between the customers and the suppliers of technical computing for the oil industry. POSC's mission is to develop and deliver a software integration platform that will provide a common reference for the international exploration and production industry. The benefit for all members will be the opening and extension of the E&P technical computing market and the ability to focus on business added value.
The election of a director-at-large reflects the growth in membership that POSC has experienced since its incorporation. POSC was founded by five exploration and production companies and its membership now stands at 36. The membership is broadly based and includes oil and gas companies, software suppliers, hardware manufacturers, oil industry service providers, government agencies and academic research organizations from Europe and North America.
