 PETROLEUM HELICOPTERS ELECTS LANG PRESIDENT AND CEO
 NEW ORLEANS, Feb. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- D. Andrew Lang has been elected president and chief executive officer of Petroleum Helicopters, Inc. (NASDAQ: PHEL PHELK) (PHI), board chairman Carroll W. Suggs announced today.
 Lang replaces Frank Lee, who becomes vice-chairman of the board.
 Lang comes to PHI from his position as senior partner in the New Orleans law firm McGlinchey, Stafford, Cellini & Lang. He has represented PHI for 25 years. In announcing Lang's election, Suggs said: "Andy Lang has served this company with commitment, enthusiasm and vision for many years. His guidance in helping us to reorganize, diversify and grow into a far stronger company makes us confident he is the right person to lead us into the future."
 Lang said: "It is quite an exciting challenge for me to take on this new leadership role with a company that has been part of my working family for many years. I look forward to carrying on the company's tradition, established by Robert Suggs, of far-sighted and bold management that places the highest value on our human resources. The men and women of PHI are the ones who have made PHI the undisputed leader in the helicopter industry."
 Lang earned degrees in business and law from Tulane University in New Orleans. He has represented management in the U.S. and abroad since 1966 and has lectured to professional groups and associations on aspects of management. And, he has published numerous articles on management and employee development.
 Lang has served on the Tulane University School of Law Dean's Council, the Commerce Clearing House Human Resources Management Advisory Board, the board of the Metropolitan Area Committee and the Advisory Council of the A.B. Freeman School of Business at Tulane University, as well as many other civic and cultural organizations. Since 1988, he has been included among "The Best Lawyers in America."
 PHI was founded in 1949 by Robert L. Suggs. After his death in 1989, his wife Carroll succeeded him as chairman of the board. The company's primary business is the transport of personnel to and from offshore oil platforms. With more than 300 helicopters, it has the largest commercial fleet in the world. The only larger fleets are those of the governments of the United States and Russia. Major PHI customers include British Petroleum, Chevron, Exxon, Mobil, Shell and Texaco.
 PHI operates 18 helicopters providing emergency medical transport services for more than 120 hospitals nationwide and to the largest subscription ambulance service in the world.
 In addition, the company has also established itself as a primary provider for helicopter technical services involving repair and refurbishing of helicopters for customers around the world.
 PHI operates from 27 bases in the U.S. and abroad. Its corporate headquarters are in New Orleans and operational headquarters in Lafayette, La. It employs over 2,300 people and its gross revenues for 1991 were in excess of $200 million.
