ENGLEWOOD, Colo., May 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Jan Peters, currently president of Domestic Wireless Operations and Investments of the U S WEST Media Group (NYSE: UMG) and chief executive officer of the U S WEST New Vector Group, will become managing director of One 2 One, U S WEST's PCS joint venture with Cable and Wireless in the U.K., replacing Richard Goswell, who is leaving One 2 One to head Cable and Wireless' operations in the Southeast Asia and Pacific region. The change will be effective June 1.

Tim Samples, currently vice president and general manager-Southwest Market for the U S WEST NewVector Group, is promoted to vice president- Domestic Wireless Operations and Investments for the U S WEST Media Group.

Terry Kramer, currently executive director of Investor Relations for AirTouch Communications, will replace Samples effective June 1.

"Jan has done an extraordinary job for us in our domestic wireless operations," said Chuck Lillis, president and chief executive officer of the U S WEST Media Group. "She and her team at NewVector last year outpaced the cellular industry with a subscriber growth rate of 64 percent and increased operating cash flow by 53 percent.

"This kind of performance, combined with her personal qualities, convince me that Jan is just the right person to lead One 2 One, the world's first commercial PCS network."

Peters also will retain oversight of U S WEST Media Group's domestic wireless operations and investments and the U S WEST New Vector Group (until Phase II, the actual merger of cellular operations with AirTouch). She will relocate to London.

Samples will be responsible for alliance and partner management, including AirTouch, PCS PrimeCo (a company formed by U S WEST, AirTouch, Bell Atlantic and NYNEX to acquire personal communications licenses) and TomCom (a joint management alliance by the same partners for technical, marketing and operating efficiencies).

Peters has held a variety of jobs in her seven years with U S WEST, including assignments in strategic marketing, Carrier Marketing and NewVector. Before joining U S WEST, Peters spent 13 years at AT&T, where she held several management positions in areas including sales, network operations and network planning.

Samples previously served as district manager for cellular operations in Denver, and has held management positions with U S WEST Cellular and U S WEST Paging in San Diego and Seattle.

Kramer has been with AirTouch and its predecessor PacTel Corp. since 1988. He has held assignments in operations, investor relations and corporate development. Before joining PacTel, Kramer was with Booz, Allen & Hamilton and with the Harris Corp.
