PETERBOROUGH 1 SWINDON 0.

DARREN FERGUSON hailed record signing Britt Assombalonga following a dream debut.

The striking star grabbed the only goal as Swindon were seen off at London Road.

Assombalonga arrived from Watford earlier in the week and needed just nine minutes before thumping a stunning finish past Swindon keeper Wes Foderingham. "It doesn't get much better than that for a new striker," said Ferguson.

"There is no doubt Britt is going to prove to be a great buy for the club."

Swindon caretaker manager Mark Cooper added: "A fantastic goal settled the game and, if that is anything to go by, it looks to be money well spent by Peterborough."
