PETER L. BERGERON APPOINTED PRESIDENT OF TYCO'S SIMPLEX WIRE AND CABLE COMPANY

 EXETER, N.H., Jan. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Tyco Laboratories, Inc. (NYSE: TYC) announced today that Peter L. Bergeron has been appointed president of its Simplex Wire and Cable Company subsidiary. Located in Newington, N.H., Simplex is the world's largest maker of transoceanic fiber optic cable having manufactured over 60,000 kilometers of this product to date.
 Bergeron, who joined Simplex in 1976, has served in a number of positions, including vice president of manufacturing, vice president of marketing, and most recently as executive vice president. A resident of Rye, N.H., Bergeron


holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of New Hampshire.
 Bergeron succeeds John C. McIntyre who served as Simplex' president since 1979. McIntyre will assume duties at Tyco's corporate headquarters, with responsibility for Simplex as well as a number of other assignments.
 Tyco is a worldwide manufacturer of fire protection systems, flow control products, electrical and electronic components and packaging materials.
