PETER KAY'S BRITAIN'S GOT THE POP FACTOR; Channel 4, tomorrow, 8pm THE WEEK AHEAD WATCH IT.
WELL, if there was an award for bonkers (yet oddly memorable) title of the week, this new series would win by a country mile.
But that's not the only thing that makes this a bit special - it also happens to be the first new comedy from the pen of the brilliant Peter Kay since we went on a road to nowhere with Phoenix Nights bouncers Max and Paddy.
So, what's caught Kay's eye for this offering?
Okay, the title gives it away - the world of reality shows. This opener introduces us to the insane show that is Britain's Got the Pop Factor and Possibly a New Celebrity Jesus Christ Soapstar Superstar Strictly on Ice, as hostess Cat Deeley presents the live final.
Remaining contestants R Wayne (Marc Pickering), 2 Up 2 Down (Jo Enright, Sian Foulkes, David Hulston, Karl Lucas) and Geraldine (Peter Kay) are jostling for the winner's crown, but there's the small matter of impressing judges Neil Fox, Nicki Chapman and Pete Waterman (appearing as themselves) to get out of the way.
As with the second series of Phoenix Nights, Kay has both written and directed this new series, and there'll be a lot of pressure on the Bolton-born star to deliver yet another slice of comic genius.
We reckon it's a shoo-in.
