PETER J. CARNEY NAMED PRESIDENT AND CEO OF GOVPX

NEW YORK, July 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Lawrence Leuzzi, chairman of the board of GovPX and managing director of S.G. Warburg & Co., Inc., today announced that Peter J. Carney has been appointed president and CEO of GovPX, the benchmark Treasury pricing service.
Carney was the former president and chief operating officer of Fundamental Brokers, a firm with 375 employees. He also served during his 30-year career as a senior vice president of Westpac Pollock Government Securities Inc., a primary dealer; as president and CEO of the Federal Farm Credit Banks Funding Corporation and as vice president and fiscal agent of the Federal National Mortgage Association.
"Peter Carney brings a broad-based, intimate knowledge of the government securities market," Leuzzi said. "In addition, Peter's deep experience and long record of management at Farm Credit and Fannie Mae provide a smooth transition and solid support for GovPX's team."
Carney has been responsible for the issuance of more than one trillion dollars in fixed income securities. He served as chairman of the Public Finance Institute of the University of Michigan Graduate School of Business for eight years, and he wrote one of the first academic works on arbitrage. Carney is a resident of Wayne, N.J.
"I look forward to the challenge of increasing transparency in governmental securities markets while positioning the company for an ever-increasing role in the financial information market," Carney said.
GovPX is owned by four out of five interdealer brokers and 42 government securities dealers. It developed Prophesy, the first service to report more than 65 percent of brokered trades in the 4-trillion-dollar U.S. Treasury market.
