 ARCO CHEMICAL ASIA PACIFIC OPERATIONS
NEWTOWN SQUARE, Pa., Aug. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- ARCO Chemical Company (NYSE: RCM) announced that Peter C. Harris has become president, ARCO Chemical Asia Pacific, Ltd. (ACAP) succeeding Dr. Donald W. Wood.
Wood, who is retiring, resigned as president ACAP and as a director of the company July 1, 1992, after a nearly 15-year distinguished career with ARCO Chemical and a nearly 42-year total career in the chemicals and allied industry.
Harris, age 50, became a senior vice president of ARCO Chemical in charge of operations in ACAP in January 1992 when he rejoined ARCO Chemical. He will continue to be located in the regional headquarters office in Hong Kong.
Harris had worked for ARCO and ARCO Chemical between 1970 and 1978 in various financial and planning functions. From 1978-1989, he held numerous senior operating and financial positions with the Sun Company's energy and chemical businesses. Most recently, he headed the Kent Consulting Group, management consultants with offices in Toronto and Dallas.
"Don Wood has led our European and Asian operations during their key formative stages and will leave behind vital market leaders," said ARCO Chemical President and Chief Executive Officer Alan R. Hirsig. "We are all indebted to Don for his significant efforts and wish him well as he leaves to pursue other business interests."
