PETER H. DAILEY ELECTED TO SIZZLER BOARD OF DIRECTORS LOS ANGELES, Dec. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Peter H. Dailey, former U.S.
Ambassador to Ireland, has been elected to the board of directors of Sizzler International Inc. (NYSE: SZ), James A. Collins, chairman of the board, announced today.
Dailey is filling the vacancy created by Rushton O. Backer's retirement from the board, and will stand for election at the end of the current fiscal year. Collins said: "We would like to recognize Rush Backer's contributions to the company over the years and also welcome Peter Dailey to the board. His expertise in business, marketing and advertising, plus his international experience, should be very helpful as we press forward with Sizzler's worldwide development." Backer was one of the original purchasers of Sizzler in 1967 and served as its president until 1981 when he became vice chairman and chief strategy officer of Collins Foods, the parent company. He retired from those posts last year and now resides in Carmel, Calif. He served as a director of both Sizzler Restaurants International Inc. and Collins Foods International Inc., now Sizzler International Inc., from 1968 until this year. Dailey is chairman of Enniskerry Financial Ltd., a private investment company and president and chief operating officer of The Century Council, a non-profit organization for the prevention of alcohol abuse and misuse. He currently serves on the boards of Chicago Title and Trust Co., Cement Roadstone PLC (Ireland), Ticor Inc. and Pinkerton Inc. Prior to forming Enniskerry Financial in 1985, he was vice chairman, director and principal shareholder of the Interpublic Group of Companies; a holding company for advertising agencies such as McCann-Erickson, Lintas, Lowe Marschalk and the Dailey International Group; with offices in 60 countries. He was President Ronald Reagan's Ambassador to Ireland from 1982 to 1984, as well as President Reagan's personal envoy to NATO countries for intermediate nuclear weapons diplomacy. He was appointed by President Reagan, and continues to serve President George Bush, as a member of the Presidential Advisory Committee on Arms Control and Disarmament. A 1954 graduate of the University of California at Los Angeles with a Bachelor of Sciences degree in marketing, Dailey has been awarded three Honorary Doctorate Degrees; law, humanities and fine arts. He has received the UCLA John E. Anderson Graduate School of Management Executive MBA Alumni Medal for distinguished leadership. He has served as vice president and director of the UCLA Alumni Association. He was a founding member of the UCLA Foundation Board of Trustees and the UCLA Chancellor's Associates. He is also a member of the Board of Overseers of UCLA's Anderson Graduate School of Management. Married with five grown children, Dailey resides in Los Angeles and Lake Tahoe, Nev. Sizzler International Inc. operates or licenses 696 Sizzler restaurants worldwide, consisting of 268 company-operated and 428 franchised restaurants.
