PETER GOES TO THE TOP.

Byline: NICOLA METHVEN, TV Editor

I'M a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here star Peter Andre went straight to number one yesterday with the re- release of his 1996 hit Mysterious Girl.

The Aussie singer sold almost 100,000 singles last week to push Jamelia's Thank You into the number two slot and keep Westlife's Obvious at number three.

He said: "This is a one-in-a-billion chance, a moment I'll never forget, I'm speechless."

A spokesman for HMV music stores said Andre has sold as many singles as Westlife and Jamelia together.

Mysterious Girl was re-released after a campaign by Radio 1's breakfast DJ Chris Moyles while Andre was in the jungle on the ITV show.

The 31-year-old has seen his profile boosted by his flirting on the show with Jordan, who he is now dating.

Andre, who is giving some of the proceeds from the single to the children's charity NSPCC, has been desperate for another crack at stardom.

He is expected to follow up on his success with the release of Insania, the song he wrote in the jungle but he has no shortage of material.

He said: "I've got well over a 100 songs ready to record. It's just a matter of picking which ones to release."

But as Andre basks in his fame, Bubbler Ranx, who raps on Mysterious Girl, continues as a pounds 30,000-a-year sales adviser at Carphone Warehouse. The rapper, 33, from Shepherd's Bush, London, is bitter that he was not asked to help promote the song. He said: "I'd have loved to have done it. I got a call from Peter. He wanted me to be involved this time and didn't realise no one had been in touch."

Record firm East West said: "Bubbler was never signed to our label."
