PETER GIGNOUX JOINS SMITH BARNEY'S
FUTURES DIVISION IN LONDON
NEW YORK, Feb. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Peter A. Gignoux has joined Smith Barney, Harris Upham's Futures Division as a senior vice president to form a petroleum desk at the firm's London offices.
Gignoux, 46, formerly headed a similar group in London for Shearson Lehman Brothers, which he joined in 1982. In addition to Gignoux, five members of the former Shearson group also joined Smith Barney: Mari Buglass, Caroline Campbell, Dominick Jevons, Andrew Hartley, and Edward Daley.
The London petroleum desk complements the firm's New York energy desk, headed by Valerie Ernst, and represents a continuing expansion of Smith Barney's trading, research and sales capabilities in futures.
Gignoux, a native of Washington, D.C., began his career in the futures sector in 1971, in London. He later joined Bache Inc. and E.F. Hutton Inc., also in London, before joining Shearson, where he founded and managed the international energy desk.
Smith Barney is a wholly owned subsidiary of Primerica Corporation, the diversified financial services company.
