Executive suite: At Wick Communications Co. of Sierra Vista, Ariz., Clay Lambert has been named editorial director; he remains managing editor of the weekly Northern California newspaper, the Half Moon Bay Review, a job he's held since 2004. Earlier, Lambert was a reporter and editor at the San Francisco Examiner and did a 12-year stint as a reporter and columnist Florida's Gainesville Times. He was also a reporter at Florida's Palm Beach Post. ... At Journal Communications Inc. of Milwaukee, Andre Fernandez has been named executive vice president for finance and strategy; previously, he was chief financial officer at NBC Universal's Telemundo Communications Group. Earlier, Fernandez held a variety of finance jobs at General Electric (of which NBC Universal is a subsidiary), including CFO for the company's Latin America division, CFO at GE Digital Energy and executive jobs at GE Brazil and GE Capital Information Technology. Before GE, Fernandez was with United Technologies Corp., Brown Brothers Harriman and Merry Lynch. ...

Publishers: At Hearst's San Francisco Chronicle and, Mark Adkins has been named president; previously, he was senior vice president for advertising at Hearst Newspapers of New York City, a job he'd held since November 2005. Earlier, he was vice president of advertising at Gannett, a job he held for 18 months. Before that, Adkins was senior vice president of marketing at Gannett's Honolulu Advertiser, and was the publisher of Southern California's San Bernardino County Sun and the North Hills News Record in suburban Pittsburgh. He began his career on the retail sales staff of Gannett's Florida Today in Melbourne, Fla., and was the newspaper's advertising director from 1990 to 1992. Also at the Chronicle, Frank Vega has been named chairman and publisher; previously, he was publisher and chief executive of the paper, a job he'd held since 2004. Earlier, Vega had a 26-year career with Gannett, including 14 years at Detroit Newspapers Inc., where he was president and chief executive. ... At the Chicago Tribune, Tony Hunter has been named publisher, president and chief executive; previously, he was the paper's senior vice president for circulation and operations, a job he'd held since 2007. A Tribune employee since 1994, Hunter served as vice president of operations from 2003 to 2007, and as well held a variety of director- and manager-level jobs at the paper in operations, circulation and consumer marketing. Before joining the Tribune, Hunter was with the Audit Bureau of Circulations for a decade. ...

Editors: At the Desert Sun in Palm Springs, Calif., Rick Green has been named executive editor; previously, he was the paper's managing editor, a job he'd held since 2004. Earlier, Green was assistant managing editor of the Cincinnati Enquirer, where he had also served as suburban editor and business editor and a business reporter. Green started his newspaper career as a correspondent and photographer at his hometown newspaper, Ohio's Coshocton Tribune, while a high school sophomore; later he was a reporter and columnist at the Chillicothe Gazette, also in Ohio. ... At Colorado's Summit Daily News, Alex Miller has been named editor; previously, he was editor of the Vail Daily, a job he'd held since December (both are Swift papers). Earlier, Miller was managing editor of the Summit paper and worked there from 1993-2000. A 20-year media veteran, Miller was also managing editor at LA Family Magazine and a producer at USA Networks. ... At the International Herald Tribune in Paris, William Schmidt has been named editor; previously, he was associate managing editor for resources and planning at the IHT's parent paper, the New York Times. A Timesman since 1981, Schmidt worked as a domestic and foreign correspondent for the paper and was bureau chief in Denver, Atlanta and Chicago. He was also a deputy national editor and served for almost six years as associate managing editor for personnel and newsroom administration. Before joining the Times, Schmidt did an eight-year stint with Newsweek (serving as Moscow bureau chief for two years) and was a reporter with the Detroit Free Press for six years. ... At North Carolina's Wilmington Star-News, Robyn Tomlin has been named executive editor; previously, she had been the executive editor of The Star-Banner of Ocala, Fla., a job she'd held for a little more than three years (both are New York Times Co. papers). Earlier, Tomlin had been both executive editor and managing editor at Alabama's Times Daily in Florence, and before that was an editor at North Carolina's Asheville Citizen-Times. ... At Texas' Brownsville Herald, Marcia Caltabiano-Ponce has been named editor; previously, she was managing editor of The Monitor of McAllen, Texas, a job she'd held since 2005 (both are Freedom papers). A 30-year veteran of The Monitor, Caltabiano-Ponce worked her way up from reporter, to features editor, city editor and then managing editor. In 2004, she was named editor of the paper's Spanish-language sibling, La Frontera, and returned to the English-language paper a year later. ... #
