Resignations: At USA Today, Karen Jurgensen and Hal Ritter have left as editor and managing editor, respectively. Jurgensen had been the editor since 1999 and joined the paper in 1982; earlier she had been with North Carolina's Charlotte News and the Miami Herald. Ritter helped found the paper as a deputy managing editor of the "Money" section in 1982. Both leave-takings were in response to last week's release of a report uncovering a pattern of fabrications made by the paper's foreign correspondent, Jack Kelley, who had resigned earlier this year. ... At Minnesota's Duluth News Tribune, Don Wyatt has resigned as editor; he'd held the paper's top editor job since 2001 and prior to that had been managing editor. Earlier Wyatt was a journalist at the St. Paul Pioneer Press, Southern California's Orange County Register, the Detroit News, USA Today and the Boston Globe. ...

Editors: At Northern California's Marin Independent Journal, Matthew Wilson has been named executive editor; previously he was publisher of the Novato Advance, a weekly based in the same town as the IJ. Earlier in his career, Wilson was a news executive at the San Francisco Chronicle and a business executive at the San Francisco Newspaper Agency. Wilson, who left the Chronicle in 2001, served as vice president for news, associate publisher, executive editor and managing editor at the paper and worked in a variety of business roles at the Agency during the 1980s. ... At the Home News Tribune of East Brunswick, N.J., Charles Paolinio has been named executive editor; previously he was the paper's managing editor. A 38-year veteran of the paper and its predecessors, Paolinio has been a reporter, a bureau chief and metropolitan editor. ... At Texas' Laredo Morning Times, Diana Fuentes has been named editor; previously she was the Sunday state editor of the San Antonio Express-News (both are Hearst papers). The Laredo native has worked for Hearst off-and-on since 1979, serving as Austin bureau chief and political editor at the Express-News, as well as serving as publisher of another Hearst paper in Texas, the Beaumont Enterprise. Fuentes replaces Odie Arambula, who has been named executive editor; Arambula has been editor of the Morning Times since 1981 and is expected to retire at the end of the year. ...

Front office: At the Daily Citizen of Dalton, Ga., Steve Beverly has been named circulation director; previously he was circulation director at Virginia's Danville Register and Bee. Dalton spent more than 25 years in the circulation department of Virginia's Richmond Newspapers Inc. ... # >ET
