Associated by associations: At the Maryland, Delaware, District of Columbia Press Association, George White has been named executive director; previously he had been director of the New Jersey Newspaper Network, the advertising department of the New Jersey Press Association. Earlier in his career, White was an ad executive with the Washington Post and Pennsylvania's Montgomery Publishing and worked as director of marketing in the Philadelphia office of accounting firm Ernst & Young. White replaces Jim Donahue, who retires next month. ... At the Newspaper Association of America in Vienna, Va., Su-Lin Cheng Nichols has been named senior vice president of communications; previously she had been director of communications for ABC News in Washington, a job she's held since 1996. Earlier in her career, Nichols was a media relations executive with WETA-TV in Washington and CNN. ...

Executive suite: At Freedom Communications Inc. of Irvine, Calif., Rachel Sagan has been named vice president and general counsel; previously she had been acting general counsel and joined the firm in 2001 as associate general counsel. Before coming to Freedom, Sagan practiced corporate law and litigation at two leading California firms. ... At Belo Corp. of Dallas, four executives have been given new roles. Jack Sander has been named president of media operations; previously he had been executive vice president of media operations and president of the company's television group. Publishers: At California's Chico Enterprise-Record, Wolf Rosenberg has been named vice president of Northern California Community Papers, a new division of ANG Newspapers, the partnership that includes MediaNews Group, Gannett and Stephens Media Group. Rosenberg, the publisher of the Chico paper, now oversees 11 papers newspapers starting just outside of the San Francisco Bay Area and reaching north to Oregon. ...

Editors: At the Argus Leader of Sioux Falls, S.D., Maricarrol Kueter has been named managing editor; previously she had been the paper's city editor. Beginning her career in 1978 as a reporter at South Dakota's Rapid City Journal, she worked at several weeklies before joining the Argus Leader in 1990. ... # >ET
