PERKINS NAMED VP, PLANNING AND BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT FOR ALLIEDSIGNAL AUTOMOTIVE

 SOUTHFIELD, Mich., March 29 /PRNewswire/ -- AlliedSignal Automotive today announced the appointment of H. Donald Perkins Jr. to vice president, planning and business development. He replaces Don DeFosset, who was recently named vice president and group executive of AlliedSignal's Turbocharging & Truck Brake Systems business unit.
 Reporting to AlliedSignal Automotive President Ralph E. Reins, Perkins will be based at the Southfield headquarters and will be a member of the AlliedSignal Automotive Management Committee. As vice president, planning and business development, Perkins will develop and implement Automotive's strategic marketing and operating plans, manage acquisitions and divestitures, and direct licensing and joint venture activities and technology coordination.
 Perkins joins AlliedSignal from the General Electric Company, where he was most recently general manager, commercial operations for GE Silicones in Waterford, N.Y.
 Perkins began his career at Procter & Gamble in manufacturing, and then spent a decade as a strategy consultant, including five years with McKinsey & Company in its Pittsburgh and London offices. In 1990, he joined GE as manager of business development and strategy, and later that year became general manager of marketing for GE Silicones.
 He has a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering from Clarkson University and an MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
