PERIPHERAL SYSTEMS INC. ANNOUNCES THE V83 QS 3270 COMPATIBLE MODULAR WINDOWING TERMINAL

SALT LAKE CITY, June 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Peripheral Systems Inc. (PSI) today introduced its newest terminal, the V83 QS, a 3270 compatible modular windowing terminal that improves upon the IBM 3290(b) standard with increased price/performance.
The V83 QS is the newest member of PSI's modular terminal product line, introduced last winter, that includes other 3270 plug-compatible models such as the V83 HV, V83 HS, and V83 HX. The V83 QS is PSI's premier color product featuring PSI's ModularWARE(a) logic design, simultaneous display of up to four full 24 X 80 host sessions, enhanced IBM 3290(a) compatibility, full IBM 3482 InfoWindow II(a) plug- compatibility, and PSI's on-screen display station accessories. Available accessories include a pop-up floating point calculator with decimal, hex and octal modes; calendar with U.S. and International date display formats; utility menu with help screens; and user-definable printer support. The modular design of the V83 QS includes a compatible analog PC monitor interface. This video interface allows customers to select from a wide range of "VGA" style monitors best suited to their business requirements.
According to Michael Casey, PSI marketing director, "In today's marketplace where the emphasis is placed on price, support costs, ergonomics, and user productivity, the V83 is uniquely positioned to give customers the ability to tailor make product solutions to meet their needs. Specifically, the full session windowing capability of the V83 QS combined with a large screen PC monitor, makes it an effective long-term alternative to the PC for those cost- and security-conscious businesses, such as the financial and insurance industries, where users routinely access multiple host sessions. Additionally, the ability to easily alter text and background color schemes makes the V83 ideally suited for the visually impaired user."
PSI distributes its products solely through value-added resellers, original equipment manufacturers and system integrators. "For PSI, the V83 QS successfully completes our introduction of a new line of IBM compatible modular logic terminals. This new product clearly demonstrates PSI's continued commitment to accommodate special features and options and provide VARs, OEMs and system integrators with optimum tools for responding quickly to the changing IBM desktop environment," said PSI's President William Wood.
Based in Salt Lake City, Peripheral Systems Inc. designs and markets a family of high performance display terminal products for the IBM marketplace. The company provides customized products for VARs, OEMs and systems integrators in such application areas as banking and finance, telecommunications, automotive manufacturing, insurance, publishing, education, and other service-related industries.
