Tenor to perform at Methodist church

Eugene tenor Bernie Robe will sing at 4 p.m. today at First United Methodist Church, 1376 Olive St. His program includes Four Hymns by Ralph Vaughn Williams and "Singet Dem Herrn" by Dietrich Buxtehude. The accompanists will be Julia Brown (piano and harpsichord), Rosemary Erb (violin), David Straka (cello) and Leslie Straka (viola). Information: 345-8764.

Thurston one-act festival begins Thursday

The Thurston High School theater department will present its Act 1 Festival beginning Thursday in the pocket theater at the school. The festival consists of two different programs of one-act plays directed by students. On Thursday, Saturday and March 4: "Slop Culture," "The Ugly Duckling," "The Road to Ruin," "I Wanna Be a Cowboy" and "Counting to Three." On Friday and March 3 and 5: "Deliver Us Not," "The Tortilla Curtain," "Going to School" and "Double Date." Admission is $6; reservations are recommended (988-5350).
