PERCEPTRON SIGNS EUROPEAN OEM WHEEL ALIGNMENT LICENSE AGREEMENT

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich., Dec. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Perceptron, Inc. (NASDAQ: PRCP), announced today that it has entered into a long-term, exclusive license agreement with Schenck Komeg Pruf- und Automatisierungstechnik GmbH (Schenck Komeg) of Germany to manufacture, use and sell Perceptron's patented P3000 series non-contact wheel alignment systems in Europe, Taiwan and China. Schenck Komeg is the European leader in the manufacture and sale of traditional wheel alignment systems.
The P3000 non-contact wheel alignment system is Perceptron's third major product targeting the automotive industry. The P3000 began commercial sales earlier this year. Under the terms of the agreement, Schenck Komeg will pay Perceptron a one-time licensing fee. The agreement also requires minimum annual product sales over the life of Perceptron's related patents which expire in January, 2009. Sales to Ford Motor Company, which helped develop the product are not subject to the exclusivity rights of this agreement.
"This OEM license agreement for our newly developed, non-contact wheel alignment products, for which Perceptron has a strong patent position, validates our thesis that this is an important opportunity," commented Dwight D. Carlson, president and chief executive officer of Perceptron, Inc. "As the European leader in traditional wheel alignment systems, we believe Schenck Komeg possesses the necessary sales support infrastructure and market position to develop the P3000 systems into the industry standard in their licensed territories. We are delighted that the new P3000 system is already being viewed as the wave of the future -- and we believe that this agreement will allow us to capitalize on this significant market opportunity."
Perceptron is a leading 3-D imaging solutions company which develops and markets non-contact measurement and guidance systems. Its laser- based datacameras, image-processing hardware and proprietary software are used by leading auto makers, automation system companies and other manufacturers in object recognition, measurement, guidance and inspection applications.
