PERCEPTRON RECEIVES GENERAL MOTORS 'SUPPLIER OF THE YEAR' AWARD

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich., March 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Perceptron, Inc. (NASDAQ Small-Cap Market: PRCP) has been named a "Worldwide Supplier of the Year" by General Motors (NYSE: GM) and has received a "Quality, Service, Price" award for its excellence in meeting these key competitive success factors used in GM's sourcing strategy.
Perceptron supplies more than 20 GM automotive and truck and bus plants with datacameras that use laser technology to measure variation in the assembly process. By providing the on-line analysis needed to maintain accuracy in manufacturing, Perceptron datacameras help its customers improve quality and reduce costs.
The award was presented March 6 during an international gathering at the General Motors Technical Center in Warren, Mich. The ceremony was hosted by J.I. Lopez de Arriortua, GM's vice president and group executive in charge of the Worldwide Purchasing Group. It was GM's first worldwide supplier awards program to honor excellence in quality, service and price.
"GM Worldwide Purchasing is recognizing these companies for demonstrating their commitment to work with us, and for their creativity and aggressiveness in meeting the competitive challenges we face together," said Lopez.
"GM is grateful to them for helping us to achieve our vision of exciting products and enthusiastic customers, created by people working together to win."
Perceptron President and Chief Executive Officer Dwight D. Carlson thanked GM for its guidance over Perceptron's 10-year history.
"Good suppliers are created by good customers," said Carlson. "GM's advice and good counsel over the years has helped us continuously improve. We are honored to be recognized for meeting GM's high expectations."
Perceptron develops, manufactures and markets laser-based datacameras used in the production of large formed parts and assemblies such as cars, trucks and appliances. Perceptron products are marketed in North America, Europe and Japan.
