PEP BOYS OPENS IN ARKANSAS

 PHILADELPHIA, June 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Pep Boys -- Manny, Moe & Jack (NYSE: PBY), the nation's leading automotive aftermarket retail and service chain, today announced the opening of a new warehouse-format, automotive supercenter in Little Rock, Ark.
 The Little Rock supercenter, Pep Boys' first store in Arkansas, is approximately 23,000 square feet, features 10 fully equipped service bays and more than 24,000 SKU's.
 Pep Boys, which currently operates 360 stores in 22 states, said it anticipates opening as many as 36 additional automotive supercenters during the balance of fiscal 1993, including its first units in Rhode Island, Missouri and Illinois.
 Pep Boys reported a 24 percent increase in earnings for the quarter ended May 1, 1993.
