 PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- As a result of ongoing, direct


competition for new store sites between Pep Boys (NYSE: PBY) and Staples, Inc., as well as a desire to avoid any conflicts of interest, it was mutually agreed that Thomas G. Stemberg, chairman and chief executive officer of Staples would no longer serve as a member of Pep Boys' board of directors.
