PEP BOYS' MASTER TECHNICIAN WINS APAA AWARD

 PHILADELPHIA, Nov. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Pep Boys -- Manny, Moe & Jack (NYSE: PBY), the nation's leading automotive aftermarket retail and service chain, today announced that Wallace Emile (Wes) Schaefer Jr., a master technician at its supercenter in Metairie, La., was named the Automotive Parts & Accessories Association (APAA) Service Technician of the Year.
 Schaefer, who has worked in the automotive repair field since 1972 and earned his ASE Master Technician Certification in 1988, won the award by earning the highest composite score in the nation on five tests administered by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE).
 Schaefer will receive his award at APAA's annual industry-wide dinner which will be held in Las Vegas this evening.
