PEOPLES GAS PETITIONS FOR RATE ADJUSTMENT
TAMPA, Fla., Jan. 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Peoples Gas today petitioned

the Florida Public Service Commission (FPSC) to approve an increase in the rates it charges for natural gas service.
Peoples Gas last petitioned the FPSC on April 12, 1990, for an overall 6.61 percent rate adjustment that would have increased the company's total annual revenues by $14,283,000. On Oct. 16, 1990, the FPSC authorized an increase of $7,490,000, or 3.47 percent, effective on Nov. 16, 1990. Today's filing requests an increase of $15,410,924, or 5.54 percent.
If approved as requested, the total monthly bills for residential customers using 20 therms of natural gas would increase from $20.03 to $20.98, an increase of 95 cents or 4.7 percent.
Peoples Gas is Florida's largest natural gas distribution company serving about 200,000 customers in most major markets.
