 PEOPLES GAS AWARDED FRANCHISE IN ORMOND BEACH
 DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., Aug. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Peoples Gas has


obtained a natural gas franchise agreement with the city of Ormond Beach in Volusia County, giving the state's leading natural gas utility authority to install natural gas mains and supply service to area businesses and residents.
 "We're pleased that the city or Ormond Beach wants to participate in the use of clean-burning and efficient natural gas. It will give Ormond Beach access to the best energy alternative," said Lawrence Davis, division manager of the Daytona Beach Division.
 The city of Ormond Beach, with a population of about 33,000, approved the 15-year franchise agreement on Aug. 4.
 The division currently serves about 7,000 natural gas and propane customers in Daytona Beach, Daytona Beach Shores, Holly Hill, Port Orange, South Daytona, Flagler Beach, Edgewater, New Smyrna Beach, Ormond Beach, Ponce Inlet, Seville, Palm Coast, Bunnell and Deltona.
 Statewide, Peoples Gas serves about 200,000 customers in 19 Florida counties.
