A FORMER manager on the luxurious Queen Mary II ocean liner has been appointed as group operations food and beverage manager with Fratello's restaurants. The business, owned by Newcastle-based hotel group Cairn, has appointed SIMON WRIGHT who has more than 16 years' experience in bar and restaurant management, to the role. His CV includes a stint as food and beverage manager for the Cunard Line's flagship the Queen Mary II, which is the largest ocean liner ever built.

Prior to joining Cunard, he worked for almost four years with the Disney Cruise Line, having graduated from the Walt Disney University where he studied a range of subjects within the hospitality industry.

The first Fratello's restaurant opened at the Holiday Inn Newcastle-Jesmond in March 2011, with further branches at the new DoubleTree by Hilton Newcastle International Airport Hotel and the recently refurbished Holiday Inn, Darlington A1 Scotch Corner Hotel.

The firm, based at The Wilton Centre near Redcar, recruited Bowes to increase the number of workers placed with North East companies and to work on their projects in the region.
