PENNZOIL ELECTS BRENT SCOWCROFT TO BOARD

 HOUSTON, March 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Pennzoil Co. (NYSE: PZL) announced today Brent Scowcroft has been elected to its board of directors. Mr. Scowcroft is a consultant on national and international security affairs and is also a director of Northrop Corp. and a trustee of the Rand Corp.
 A retired Air Force lieutenant general, Mr. Scowcroft spent much of his career in the strategic, diplomatic and political branches of the military, especially in East-West relations and arms control. He was formerly Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs. Prior to 1989, Mr. Scowcroft was vice chairman of a consulting firm. He served on three prominent presidential commissions and played a crucial role in developing United States policy and strategy during the Persian Gulf crisis.
 Mr. Scowcroft graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York, in 1947, then received a master's degree in 1953 and doctorate in 1967 in international relations from Columbia University. He also attended Lafayette College, Georgetown University School of Language and Linguistics, Armed Forces Staff College, and the National War College. He is fluent in Russian and Serbo-Croatian.
