PENNSYLVANIA TURNPIKE COMMISSION SETTLES UNION CONTRACT

PENNSYLVANIA TURNPIKE COMMISSION SETTLES UNION CONTRACT
HARRISBURG, Pa., Jan. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Pennsylvania Turnpike

commissioners today unanimously approved the contract agreement reached with Teamsters Local Union 77 and 250, which was tentatively agreed upon on Nov. 27, 1991.
By a vote of two-to-one, Teamsters locals had previously ratified the contract on Jan. 8. The new contract is retroactive to Oct. 1, 1991.
Terms of the three-year pact provide for a 4 percent salary increase each year. The average wage for a permanent, full-time toll collector or maintenance worker will increase from $12.21 per hour to $12.70 per hour in 1991-92. An employee must work three years for the commission to attain this salary rate.
The estimated first-year cost to the commission is $1.5 million. The previous benefits package will continue without change.
Teamsters Local 30 representing first-level supervisors and professional non-supervisory personnel has yet to settle terms of their agreement. A meeting is scheduled for tomorrow. The inability to reach an agreement, however, would not result in interruption of any turnpike services.
