PITTSBURGH, Dec. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Pennsylvania Turnpike commissioners today awarded the final contract for roadway construction on the Amos K. Hutchinson Bypass near Greensburg, Pa.
Mashuda Corporation of Evans City, Pa., was the low bidder for Section 73B at approximately $15.7 million.
Section 73B includes construction of 2.2 miles of four-lane, divided concrete highway, 1.9 miles of concrete ramps, one steel bridge, and the relocation of 1.25 miles of bituminous (asphalt) roadways -- township Route 627, also known as Old Route 66, and state Route 4024 (Bouquet Road).
This section is located in Salem Township, Westmoreland County, Pa. The project extends 1.8 miles south and four-tenths of a mile north of the present interchange between U.S. 22 in Delmont, Pa., and existing state Route 66.
It is anticipated that construction on Section 73B will start in the spring of 1992.
At a later date, the Pennsylvania Turnpike will award contracts for the toll plazas, lighting, and signage for the 13.2-mile Amos K. Hutchinson Bypass. According to turnpike officials, the project is currently on schedule and should be completed late in 1993.
