PENNSYLVANIA STEEL TECHNOLOGIES TO INCREASE PRICES OF STEEL BAR PRODUCTS AND SEMI-FINISHED STEEL

STEELTON, Pa., Feb. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Pennsylvania Steel Technologies (PST) Inc., said today it has joined other producers in increasing the prices of steel bar products and semi-finished steel by $15 a ton.
Tim Demma, vice president, commercial, of the Bethlehem Steel Corporation (NYSE: BS) subsidiary, formerly known as the Rail Products and Pipe Division, said the price action is designed to help offset steady increases in the cost of steel scrap. PST is a 100 percent scrap-based steelmaking operation.
The increases, which went into effect with customer notices Jan. 18, cover all sizes of flat bars, special sections and semi-finished products.
Demma noted that the increases, which were applied to orders entered after the notice date, are the first for these products in two years.
