PENNSYLVANIA ANNOUNCES $56,750 ENVIRONMENTAL LOAN TO LANCASTER COMPANY
HARRISBURG, Pa., June 25 /PRNewswire/ -- State Commerce Secretary Andrew T. Greenberg today announced the approval of a $56,750 environmental technology loan to Alternative Recycling Inc. of Lancaster for the purchase of equipment to recycle newspapers into animal bedding.
"Through loans to companies like Alternative Recycling, we're investing in recycling technologies that generate products with proven markets," Greenberg said. "This investment is helping to reduce our dependence on landfills and to create new jobs."
The company will use the loan to buy a chopper and baler to process newspapers into bales of animal bedding that will sell for approximately 40 percent of the cost of standard animal bedding.
The $113,500 project is expected to create 10 jobs.
The Environmental Technology Loan Fund, authorized by the Commonwealth's recycling law, is financed by landfill disposal fees collected by the Department of Environmental Resources.
The fund is designed to stimulate the growth of Pennsylvania's recycling industry and to encourage the growth of markets for recycled goods.
