PENNDOT NAMES RAIL FREIGHT, PORTS AND WATERWAYS CHIEF

 HARRISBURG, Pa., Jan. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- State Transportation Secretary Howard Yerusalim today announced the appointment of Paige E. Stewart as director of PennDOT's Bureau of Rail Freight, Ports and Waterways.
 "Paige Stewart brings a strong background in economic development that will be essential in overseeing the commonwealth's rail freight and port assistance programs," Yerusalim said.
 The Bureau of Rail Freight, Ports and Waterways administers the department's financial and technical assistance programs, including the Rail Freight Assistance Program, for the state's rail freight and port operators.
 Since June 1989, Stewart has worked on the Governor's Response Team, a special economic development unit in the state Department of Commerce. Prior to that, she worked for the Redevelopment Authority of Cumberland County.
 Stewart is certified as an economic development professional by the National Development Council. She holds a bachelor of arts degree in English from Dickinson College, Carlisle, and lives in Mechanicsburg.
