PECO'S PEACH BOTTOM UNIT 3 REMOVED FROM SERVICE

PHILADELPHIA, July 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Philadelphia Electric Company (PECO) (NYSE: PE) announced today that Unit 3 at its Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station in York County, Pa., was taken out of service by control room operators at 3:27 a.m. this morning.
The operators took the action after a fuse failed on the Unit 3 recombiner system. This resulted in a loss of vacuum on the unit's condenser system in the non-nuclear portion of the plant.
The recombiner is a non-emergency system which supports the operation of the unit's condenser system.
There was no release of radiation and no declaration of any emergency classification.
PECO has notified the appropriate federal, state and county officials.
Unit 3 was operating at full power.
