PE CHAIRMAN JOE PAQUETTE, MAYOR RENDELL TO HOST PHIL-A-JOB'S 'FIRST DAY ON THE JOB' When: 10 a.m., Tuesday, July 7 Where: Philadelphia Electric Company main office/west lobby 2301 Market St., Philadelphia Who: Mayor Edward G. Rendell and Joseph F. Paquette Jr., PE chairman and 1992 Phil-a-Job campaign chairman; Ernest Jones, executive director Greater Philadelphia Urban Affairs Coalition; Patricia Irving, executive director Private Industry Council; Howard Lomax, former Phil-a-Job participant and PE employee with about fifty 1992 Phil-a- Job participants What: First Day on the Job ceremony with "charge" from Rendell and Paquette to participants Details: Phil-a-Job provides a broad array of educational and employment opportunities for Philadelphia area youth. The 1992 campaign offers employment in large corporations, basic education and career exploration, and special trade and service programs for youth ages 14 to 21. An estimated 7,800 young people are expected to participate this summer. Phil-a-Job is a public/private partnership operated by the Private Industry Council of Philadelphia and the Greater Philadelphia Urban Affairs Coalition. More than 220 local businesses, 120 non-profit organizations, and the School District of Philadelphia provide support and services.
