PCS PrimeCo wins big at auction in 11 cities.

--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 13, 1995--PCS PrimeCo, the four-way partnership of AirTouch Communications, Inc. (NYSE:ATI), Bell Atlantic (NYSE:BEL), NYNEX (NYSE:NYN) and US WEST (NYSE:USW) has invested $1.1 billion for licenses in 11 major cities covering 57 million people. The partnership will quickly build out its PCS network and deliver easy-to-use, affordable wireless services to customers within 18 months. (See chart below for license details.)

"These 11 cities and the surrounding areas fill in key pieces in our national footprint. With our collective cellular properties and PCS winnings, we plan to offer unparalleled wireless service and set the pace for the competitive wireless industry. With our partners, we expect to cover the country by the end of the other auction rounds.

We bid with discipline and succeeded in buying the airwaves at a price that will allow us to offer affordable service and create value for shareholders. We paid an average of under $20 per person to win licenses that cover more than 57 million people in some of the nation's premier markets." -0-
