PCRWR signs MoU with Barani Agriculture Research Institute.

Islamabad -- Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources (PCRWR) has signed an MoU with Barani Agriculture Research Institute (BARI), Chakwal to support and coordinate research and dissemination for agriculture development and efficient water use in dryland areas especially Cholistan desert, says a press release.

BARI will help PCRWR in providing various plants especially olives. PCRWR has already completed plantation of olives with the joint venture of BARI in Cholistan using drip irrigation and solar pumping systems, and another sizeable areas will be added with the help of BARI.

This would be a green revolution in desert areas because of high economic return and would help to meet oil requirements of the country, told by Dr. Mohammad Ashraf, Chairman PCRWR. The MoU signed by the Director General, Ayub Agricultural Research Institute (Dr. Abid Mahmood) and Chairman PCRWR (Dr. Mohammad Ashraf). The said ceremony was held at BARI Chakwal where other renowned scientists and professionals were also present.
