PCCA conventioneers looking forward to recovery.
Though most readily agreed the telecommunications industry is still struggling, the contractors and vendors attending the convention also felt like the industry had begun a slow recovery. This perception was a far cry from the past two conventions where survival was the primary concern.
The convention was presided over by outgoing PCCA President Steve Spears of Bonneville Construction, Hato Rey, PR. Together with his wife Flori, the Spears worked with the PCCA staff to ensure a spectacular convention for the 260 attendees.

In taking over the reigns as the 2004-2005 PCCA president, Greg Johnson reminded the attendees that the association's membership is what has made the group successful.
"When new members ask me what the PCCA is all about, I tell them to look at all the other people in the association and their accomplishments--it's all about the people," Johnson stressed.
A full slate of business sessions helped bring attendees up-to-date on the latest industry developments, including the 4th annual contractors roundtable discussion.
The Associate of the Year Award was bestowed to two people this year: Tony Briggs of Vermeer Manufacturing, and Kurt Andrews of The Charles Machine Works (Ditch Witch).
The Most Valuable Recruiter Award was earned by Austin Shanfelter, MasTec North America.
The PCCA's Mid-Year Meeting will be held on Sept. 16-18 at the Snake River Lodge, Teton Village, WY. In 2005, the PCCA will celebrate its 60th anniversary. Numerous special events are being planned for the convention which will be held Feb. 26-March 2, at the Westin Diplomat in Hollywood, FL.
