PC-1099, Graves Data Systems, Inc., 3740 Williston Road, Minnetonka, MN 55345, (800) 373-8229, $399.

This electronic filing package was specifically designed for filing 1099s. The package offers one step installation and provides user-friendly pull-down menus and on-line help. It can be used to file electronically with the IRS even if another software package was used for data input. According to Graves Data Systems, PC-1099 software compresses data to make filing and transmission at least 100% quicker than conventional means. The company has developed its own proprietary compression routine which has been accepted by the IRS. Users need only concern themselves with menu-driven input. The system automatically transmits data using an error-free protocol which protects and verifies receipt of data by the IRS. PC-1099 prints statements and reports and can import data from ASCII files. Graves Data Systems also offers free telephone support and guarantees IRS acceptance of information filed through PC-1099. The package is created for use on IBM PC computers or compatibles.
