PC software simulates robot water-jet cutting.

New TrimPro robot simulation software from Robotic Production Technology (RPT), Auburn Hills, Mich., helps program trimming paths for water-jet cutting of composites and other plastics. This off-line simulation software for six-axis articulated robots was jointly developed with Fanuc Robotics America, Inc., Rochester Hills, Mich.

TrimPro can import CAD models of parts and fixtures and includes a Fanuc robot library to replicate the robot's operation accurately in a virtual environment. Other features include simple teach programming, a robot reach check, collision detection, cycle-time validation, bottleneck detection, and video animation capability.
