PC VETERAN GLENN HENRY JOINS MIPS TECHNOLOGIES HENRY TO DRIVE ATTACK FOR COMPUTER COMPANIES BUILDING MIPS-BASED PCs

 MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Jan. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- MIPS Technologies, Inc. today announced the hiring of Glenn Henry, formerly the chief technology officer of Dell Computer Corporation, as PC division director for MIPS Technologies. Henry will be responsible for all technical aspects of driving MIPS(R) RISC microprocessor technology into the PC marketplace. He will work closely with companies who are developing and manufacturing PCs based on MIPS processors and will take a leading role in signing and supporting new systems partners. Henry will report directly to Tom Whiteside, president of MIPS Technologies.

 Henry joined Dell Computer in 1988 as vice president of research and development. In 1989, Henry was promoted to senior vice president and also took on responsibility for worldwide operations and manufacturing. Henry also currently serves as a director of Summagraphics Corporation. Prior to Dell Computer, Henry worked at IBM Corporation for 21 years in a variety of roles. At IBM, he was responsible for the initiation and early development of IBM's first RISC-based UNIX workstation. He also was responsible for architecting and developing the System 38 computer. In 1985, Henry was awarded the distinguished title of IBM Fellow.
