PC PUTS WEIGHT BEHIND FALL.

A HERO cop yesterday told how his 17-stone bulk helped save a 60-year-old man from a raging house blaze.

Quick-thinking PC Derek Mitchell, 46, and his colleague got a mattress so the man and a woman could jump from the first floor of an Inverness bed and breakfast on Wednesday.

But the man lost his balance and landed on the policeman.

Well-built PC Mitchell said last night: "I feel fine now although I still have a bit of a limp."
