PC MAGAZINE SELECTS GENERIC CADD FOR 'EDITOR'S CHOICE' AWARD
BOTHELL, Wash., Dec. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- PC Magazine, one of the world's largest publications aimed toward the users of IBM/MS DOS standard PC's, has honored Generic CADD from Autodesk Retail Products with its coveted "Editor's Choice" award, Autodesk said today. This is the second time Generic Cadd has been selected by PC Magazine for this honor.
"You will have to search far and wide to find a 2-D CAD system that is more capable or packs more features that Generic CADD from Autodesk Retail Products," said the publication in its Dec. 17 issue. "Despite its modest price of $495, it is versatile enough to be both an architect's tool and an aid for drafting engineering drawings. In fact, you would be hard-pressed to find a 2-D application that Generic CADD cannot handle adeptly." In other comments, the magazine's reviewers said Generic CADD excelled in handling a suite of architectural and mechanical drafting tasks. "Generic CADD is easy to learn and rich in features," PC Magazine editors concluded. "For pure ease of use, power and speed at a reasonable price, Generic CADD is hard to beat."
According to PC Magazine, users who have made the transition to computer-aided drawing and drafting claim these programs can improve productivity in drafting-related work, evidenced by the explosive growth in the CAD market in recent years.
"Much of the credit for this award goes to our thousands of customers, who give us valuable input on how to make our products the best," said Pete O'Dell, the firm's president. "To win this award once is quite an honor. But to win it twice, is certainly exciting. It's nice to know that others feel as confident about our products as we do," he continued.
Generic CADD was introduced to the marketplace in 1985. Since then, it has grown to become one of the world's most popular CADD programs, with more than 285,000 copies sold worldwide.
