PB/MDF shipments dip slightly.

After posting a record in 1989 for shipments of particleboard and medium density fiberboard, the U.S. panel producing industry's output dipped 1.5 percent in 1990 to 4,756 million square feet on a 3/4-inch basis. This is the first decline in combined shipments since 1982, according to the National Particleboard Assn.

According to the NPA report, 1990 U.S. Industry Annual Shipments & Production - Particleboard & Medium Density Fiberboard, the total industry value of shipments of particleboard declined $13/MSF to $216 per thousand square (MSF) feet - 3/4 inch basis (MSF), while the MDF average rose $3/MSF to $327/MSF.
