PAYCHEX: DOMESTIC EMPLOYEES SET THE RULES

ROCHESTER, N.Y., Sept. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Why do many household employers pay their employees under the table? According to accountants, it's employees' requests that keep domestic employers from reporting wages. That's the consensus of 43 percent of accountants who responded to a nationwide survey on compliance issues for domestic employers - a study conducted by Paychex, Inc. (NASDAQ: PAYX), a national payroll processing company. Thirty-eight percent of accountants listed the paperwork burden as another reason for non- compliance, followed by cost (23 percent).
Other reasons cited included: employer request, lack of information about compliance issues, hiring illegal aliens, low risk of being caught and no perceived benefit for compliance.
Nine hundred and twenty three accountants responded to the survey.
Paychex, Inc. is a national payroll processing and payroll tax preparation company. The company is based in Rochester, N.Y. and has 90 locations nationwide.
