PAUL KAHN, CREDIT CARD INDUSTRY LEADER, JOINS WRIGHT EXPRESS BOARD OF DIRECTORS

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine, June 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Paul G. Kahn, a recognized leader in the credit card industry, has been elected a member of the board of directors of Wright Express Corporation, John R. Birk, the company's president and chief executive officer, announced today.
"We are delighted that Paul has agreed to join us and enhance our diverse and distinguished board," Birk said. "As president and chief executive officer of AT&T Universal Card Services Corporation, he led his company's effort to bring the AT&T Universal Card to market, and in just three years built it into the second most widely used card in the U.S. -- with over 17 million Americans carrying and using it. That's an extraordinary result."
According to Birk, under Kahn's leadership, the AT&T Universal Card "became one of the major business success stories of the early '90's -- generating more than one billion dollars of annual revenues that, on a standalone basis, would qualify it as a Fortune 100 service company. Paul's highly successful experience at AT&T, as well as in other positions, will prove invaluable as we continue to grow and expand rapidly in information processing and commercial credit cards."
Wright Express is the leading provider of information processing, financial, and information management services to car, van, and truck fleets, throughout the U.S. The company provides private label commercial credit cards for many of the nation's oil companies, co- branded fleet fueling cards with seven of the top vehicle leasing companies, as well as its own Wright Express Universal Fleet Card which is honored at over 60,000 fueling and service locations.
Kahn has compiled a successful track record not only in the credit card industry -- but also in the information processing and banking fields, where he held executive positions with Wells Fargo Bank, First National Bank of Chicago, and Mellon Bank. "Indeed, virtually every aspect of Paul's career is relevant to Wright Express's capabilities and mission, and is of great potential benefit to us."
The new Wright Express Board member has received numerous prestigious business awards in recognition of his and his company's achievements. Most recently, AT&T Universal Card received that Malcolm Baldridge National Quality Award -- becoming the youngest company and the only financial services firm to do so. Other awards include: Executive of the Year ("Credit Card Management Magazine") Marketing Executive of the Year (American Marketing Association); Best Product of the Year ("Business Week"); Top Banking Innovation ("American Banker"); Edison Award for Best Product Idea (American Marketing Association); and The Year's Top Marketing Idea ("Fortune" and "Advertising Age").
A graduate of Antioch College (Yellow Springs, Ohio), with a bachelor of business administration degree, Kahn -- who recently left AT&T Universal Card -- is currently president of Coleridge Financial Corporation, a financial services start-up and acquisition company.
In addition to his professional endeavors, Kahn is actively involved in a variety of business and community organizations. He serves as a member of the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce's Board of Governors, the University of North Florida's Business Advisory Council, the Jacksonville University Board of Trustees, and the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra's Board of Directors. He also serves on the United Way Board and Executive Committee.
