          PATRICK J. MCDONNELL IS APPOINTED VICE CHAIRMAN
              OF COOPER'S AND LYBRAND'S MIDWEST REGION
    NEW YORK, Nov. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Cooper's & Lybrand Chairman Eugene M. Freedman today announced the appointment of Patrick J. McDonnell to vice chairman of the firm's Midwest region overseeing 23 offices in 10 midwestern states.
    In making the announcement, Freedman said, "Throughout his career at Cooper's & Lybrand Pat has been a builder, both of clients and staff. As vice chairman of our Midwest region he will be responsible for leading client service, assuring that our clients' needs are anticipated and met with innovative, world-class services.
    "The Midwest has a strong economic base and tremendous growth potential. Under Pat's direction Coopers & Lybrand will have the multi- disciplined teams ready to serve clients' needs wherever they do business in the region, throughout the country or around the world," Freedman said.
    McDonnell has experience in various leadership roles within the firm and a strong background in client services, professional developing and training, and technology.  Previously, he was managing partner of the firm's Chicago office and prior to that, managing partner of the Hartford, Conn., office which grew significantly under his direction.
    McDonnell has a strong background in community service and is active with many local educational, civic and cultural organizations.  He is a member of Chicago United, Inc., where he is co-chairman of the economic development subcommittee.  He is a member of the advisory council of the College of Commerce at DePaul University and serves on the special events subcommittee of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.  He is also a member of the Economic Club of Chicago and a board member of the Lyric Opera of Chicago.
    He received a bachelor of business administration degree from the University of Notre Dame and a master of business administration degree from the University of Michigan.
