PATRICK FINNERAN NAMED VICE PRESIDENT OF
McDONNELL DOUGLAS AV-8B HARRIER II PROGRAM
ST. LOUIS, Oct. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Patrick J. Finneran Jr. has been named vice president of the AV-8B Harrier II program at McDonnell Douglas (NYSE: MD).
Earlier this year, Finneran was named general manager of the program, and he will continue to serve in that capacity with responsibility for overseeing all aspects of Harrier II production and operation activities.
Finneran, 46, joined McDonnell Douglas in 1987 as program development manager on the AV-8B. In 1990, he was named program manager for Harrier II programs and later deputy general manager. Prior to joining McDonnell Douglas, Finneran served 20 years as a Marine Corps officer, retiring in 1987 with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
He holds a bachelor's degree in government from the University of Notre Dame and a master's degree in public administration from East Carolina University. Finneran is also an honors graduate of the Air Force Command and Staff College and a graduate of the National War College.
The AV-8B program is the U.S. Marine Corps' close air support aircraft, with short take off/vertical landing capabilities. It is also in service with the British Royal Air Force, Spanish Navy and Italian Navy. On Sept. 22, 1992, the first radar-equipped Harrier -- the Harrier II Plus -- made its inaugural flight. The first Harrier II Plus will enter the Marine Corps fleet in July 1993.
